But Geo is no more a Pakistani channel. It is well clear from the pro-India programs and the way they’re ‘leading’ the media towards. Because they have the money.
Every drama shown on Geo TV is more Indian than the previous and the channel shows pride in highlighting Indian movies. Very Pakistani though, after all we’re the ones who are glued to Bollywood movies and their news.
Most hate India but have a special place in their hearts for their cinema. I mean, we have grown up dancing to Kajra Re. But do they deserve a place in our hearts?
We’ve been at war against them four times in our brief 64 year history. The last war was fought in 1999, just before the coup.
Should we really have a place for someone who we know conspire against Pakistan in front of the world. Remember what they did after Mumbai attacks?
It’s simple. PEMRA did the right thing by banning Geo Super. I would say, ban Geo News, Geo TV and Aag TV and lift the bans from Indian news channels like DD and Zee News – the dirty ones. And let the public listen to what the Indians have to say about us.
Geo is not a representative of Pakistan. It certainly doesn’t look like one. Wasn’t there a Pakistan series where Geo Super couldn’t buy the rights for because it has already bought the rights for India vs Australia?
And yes, PEMRA might as well add the stipulation that if Geo pays off the debt they owe to the banks of Pakistan – all Rs. 1.68 billion of it – the ban will be lifted.
